History
Before the discovery of Chile, the land was inhabited by The Mapuche. An Indigenous group that freely roamed the land until the Spanish came. They were located in south-central Chile, and in some parts of southwestern Argentina. They centered their villages around the Central Valley of Chile This is where there is fertile land, and access to the Bíobío River. The founding of Chile began in the early 15th century. A Spanish conquistadors named, Ferdinand Magellan discovered Chile and many of its cities. By the 16th century many of the explorers diffused throughout the country and colonized what we now know of as present-day Chile. Chile is found on the western edge of South America, This country extends across various landscapes; volcanic zones, gardens, mountains, valleys, and a desert. Chile is long and thin giving it a ribbon like shape, although it looks small in size it doubles California's population.
Location
Chile stretches along the southwestern edge of South America. It borders around the South Pacific Ocean, and is between Argentina and Peru. To many eyes Chile can be seen as the longest country in the world, but Chile is known as the second longest country in the world. Which is 95km less longer than Brazil! The exact geographic coordinates are: 30 00 S, 71 00 W with a total area of 756,102 square kilometres.
